Title: Pacta Sunt Servanda — Practices of China as a WTO Member

Author: Yang Guohua

Abstract:Before and after China’s accession to the WTO, China sorted out its laws and regulations to align its economic and trade laws and regulations with WTO rules. After becoming a formal WTO Member, trade policy compliance has become a routine of its government work, and it has specially developed a compliance system. Meanwhile, China has become actively involved in WTO dispute settlement, settling disputes with other Members per WTO rules, faithfully executing rulings and adjusting measures including amending laws. China has been fulfilling WTO obligations based on the means of “implementation type”, “prevention type” and “rectification type”, thus truly implementing Pacta Sunt Servanda.
