Author: Li Yu
Abstract: Since data has become an essential production factor and digitization has become increasingly popular during the transformation of industrial development, the global economy has gained new growth momentum, and economic activities have been tremendously changing. At the same time, the digital economy is suffering from the problem of inequality, coupled with a lack of international cooperation, and the issue of global governance is becoming increasingly apparent. This paper discusses the definition and features of the digital economy, explores its positive and negative impacts on global economic governance, and analyzes the new features of global economic governance in the digital economy. After clarifying this impact and these characteristics, this paper argues that global economic governance in the digital economy should be effectively implemented by (i) improving the ways and efficiency of governance, (ii) expanding the scope of governance to include more groups, (iii) seeking common ground while acknowledging differences to reduce conflicts, (iv) revising rules and standards to adapt to the times, (v) advocating for multi-party co-construction to attain collaborative governance, and (vi) promoting the sustainable development of global digital governance. All countries are supposed to collaborate to build an open, inclusive, and win-win global economic governance system.
